Albert Wellington Wilmarth, 90, of St. Louis passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Delmar Gardens West in St. Louis. He was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Aberdeen, S.D., son of George and Flora Holihan Wilmarth. He and June Norby were married June 10, 1941. She died June 20, 1996...

Albert Wellington Wilmarth, 90, of St. Louis passed away Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Delmar Gardens West in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 12, 1913, in Aberdeen, S.D., son of George and Flora Holihan Wilmarth. He and June Norby were married June 10, 1941. She died June 20, 1996.

Albert graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in chemical engineering. He later received his MBA from St. Louis University.

He was ordained a deacon in the Catholic church in 1991. He served at Holy Cross Parish in Cuba, Mo., until June 1996.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy, retiring as a commander.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, George and Melba Wilmarth of Cape Girardeau, Tim and Kathy Wilmarth of Doha, Qatar, Peter and Marie Wilmarth of Madison, Wis., Paul and Jill Wilmarth of St. Louis; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Bowles of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, including Laura (Brian) James and sons, Jacob, Noah and Jonah of Scott City, Joel (Deborah) Wilmarth and children, Meghan and Brendan of St. Louis, Carissa Wilmarth and daughter, Abbie of Cape Girardeau; and Jessica Wilmarth of Cape Girardeau.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Britton Funeral Home in Cuba is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may take the form of donations to the June Wilmarth Memorial Childrens' Clothing Fund, c/o Britton Funeral Home, 904 W. Washington, Cuba, Mo. 65453.
