ALBERT TOWNSEND

JACKSON -- Funeral service for Albert R. Townsend of Jackson will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. David Stewart will officiate, with burial in Arcadia Valley Memorial Cemetery at Ironton.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Townsend, 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 20, 1908, at Belleview, son of John Albert and Emma Alberta Phillips Townsend. He and Adele Spitzmiller were married April 17, 1948, at Ironton.

Townsend was a distributor and jobber with Shell Oil Co. 45 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church at Fruitland.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bert Townsend of Arcadia; a brother, Loran Townsend of Columbia; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.
