SIKESTON, Mo. -- Albert I. Seiler, 84, of Sikeston, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1921, in Oran, Mo., son of Herman and Mary Snyder Seiler. He and Margaret Schoen were married Nov. 22, 1944, in New Hamburg, Mo.
Seiler was employed by the U.S. Postal Service 30 years, and after retiring in 1978 worked for the Missouri Tax Commission for seven years as a property appraiser. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston, past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3151 in Sikeston. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Melvin Seiler of Cilbertsville, Ky., Kenny Seiler of Charleston, Mo., Jerome Seiler of Springfield, Mo., John Seiler of Sikeston, Steven Seiler of Nixa, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Ann Shelton of Sikeston, Shirley Waddle of Nixa; a brother, Herbert Seiler of Commerce, Mo., two sisters, Bernadette Bollinger of Benton, Mo., Ailene Kiefer of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie and Bobby Seiler; two brothers; and a sister.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston. Monsignor Richard Rolwing will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
