Albert W. Deneke, 89, of Gordonville passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Gordonville, son of Alvin H. and Lena Sperling Deneke. He and Ruby Neumeyer were married Nov. 21, 1944.
Albert was born and raised on the family farm in Gordonville, where he was a farmer all his life. He graduated from the former Gordonville High School.
He was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, its Men's Club, church board, served on Trustees, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school more than 50 years, and was president of Perpetual Care Cemetery Board. He also served on Cape County FHA Board.
Loving survivors include his wife of 63 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Faye Deneke of Gordonville; a granddaughter, Heather (Shawn) Weber of Jackson, their children, Madalyn and Dylan; a grandson, Derrick (Kristi) Deneke of Columbia, Mo., their children, Cooper and Campbell; and a sister, Bernice (James) Hartmann of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Nothdurft.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Ann Mowery officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Kuehle. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
