PUXICO -- Funeral service for Albert Cooper of Shrewsbury will be held at 10 a.m. today at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. in Puxico Cemetery.

Cooper, 80, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis.

A native of Puxico, he received his undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Cooper taught in several one-room schools in Southeast Missouri before moving to St. Louis in 1948. He served as principal at Ste. Genevieve, Union, and at Ritenour School District in St. Louis.

In 1952 he joined the Normandy School District where he served as principal and as assistant superintendent in charge of elementary education. He retired in 1976 after 39 years in Missouri public schools.

He was a past president of St. Louis Suburban Elementary Principals Association.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a son, Barry Cooper of South St. Louis County; two grandchildren, five brothers, and three sisters.
