Alban "Jake" Riehn, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born May 7, 1913, at Oran, Mo., son of Albert Frederick and Shabla J. Niswonger Riehn. He and Lucell Stewart were married Sept. 19, 1937, at New Madrid, Mo.
Alban moved to Cape Girardeau in 1945. He had worked at Niswonger Lumber, was a bus driver for the city of Cape Girardeau, worked at ABC Builders Supply, and retired from Florsheim Shoe Co. He also played music for numerous nursing homes and hospitals. He was a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick F. and Wonetta Riehn of Farmington, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Jimmy Whittaker of Cape Girardeau; a son-in-law, Gene Hahs of Cape Girardeau; a special friend, Ruby Busche; 10 grandchildren, Albert Koerber, Timothy Koerber, Jennifer Stevens, Jessica Whittaker, Amy Jones, Charles Riehn, Sheryl Farris, Mark Hahs, David Hahs and Rebecca Hahs; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harry "Buddy" Riehn; a daughter, Peggy Ann Hahs; a brother; and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
