A.J. Eveler, 75, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Mo. He was born June 17, 1928, in Jefferson City, son of Anthony J. "Tony" and Della Margaret Schrimpf Eveler. Eveler worked 18 years at International Shoe Co. He was employed by Missouri Department of Corrections from 1963 until retiring as a corrections classification assistant in 1988...

A.J. Eveler, 75, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Mo.

He was born June 17, 1928, in Jefferson City, son of Anthony J. "Tony" and Della Margaret Schrimpf Eveler.

Eveler worked 18 years at International Shoe Co. He was employed by Missouri Department of Corrections from 1963 until retiring as a corrections classification assistant in 1988.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, lifetime member of Roy Sone VFW Post 1003 and Disabled American Veterans, and member of Eagles Aerie 2693 and Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5.

Eveler was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea.

Survivors include two sons, William and Roger Eveler of Jefferson City; a daughter, Joyce Dover of Scott City; two brothers, Robert Eveler of Centertown, Mo., Mark Eveler of Wardsville, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Steinmetz of Jefferson City, Loretta Paneitz of Wright City, Mo.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Friends may call at Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Dolan officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, with military honors to be conducted.
