Memorial service for Aileen D. Lorberg of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor David Hintz will officiate. Private burial will be in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.

Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lorberg died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, on her 88th birthday, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Feb. 24, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Martin Gustav and Flora Amelia Wolter Lorberg.

Lorberg received a bachelor of science degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University. She had worked on the Capaha Arrow, and had been active in the music department and Sorosis Literary Society at the university.

She had been a teacher in the Clayton School District. She wrote books for teenagers, educational journals, and wrote essays that were published in the former Bulletin-Journal Newspaper.

In 1982 the essay column was dropped and she began writing a language column titled "Lend Me Your Ear" for the Bulletin-Journal, which was still being published in the Southeast Missourian Newspaper.

Lorberg was honored for her writing accomplishments by receiving the Otto Dingeldein Award from Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts in 1981.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.
