VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Agnes Genevieve Reisinger Wehrenberg, 65, of Villa Ridge, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, passed away at 12:16 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at her longtime home surrounded by her family.
Agnes was born Aug. 3, 1951, in Cairo, daughter of the late Isom Reisinger and Salome Schmaeng Reisinger.
Agnes was a graduate of St. John's Nursing School in Springfield, Illinois. Agnes worked for 44 years as a nurse. This included time spent in the ER, home health and neurosciences.
Agnes was a member of the Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo, as well as a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City, Illinois.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Isom and Salome Reisinger; sisters Ruth Marcy and Rose Reisinger; and a brother, David Reisinger.
Agnes was happily married for 44 years to Richard Wehrenberg of Villa Ridge, Illinois. Together they raised a family of three children, Chris Wehrenberg of Jackson, Brian Wehrenberg of Branson, Missouri, and Jennifer (Clint) Shackles of Thebes, Illinois. She was a vital part in the lives of her five grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Xenia Davis, Xominique Davis, Anointed Wehrenberg, Joshua Wehrenberg and Thomas Shackles. Other survivors include sisters Mary Wehrle of Anutt, Missouri, Ann Pica of Fairbury, Illinois, Rita Kupris, Loretta Reisinger of Springfield and Martha Reisinger of Murphysboro, Illinois; brothers Fredrick Reisinger of Ashton, Illinois, William Reisinger of Oakdale, Connecticut, and Michael Reisinger of San Marcus, California.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home, Villa Ridge, and from 8 until the time of service Tuesday at the Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the worship center, with Dr. Larry L. Potts and the Rev. Jerry Lindsey officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Villa Ridge.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the First Baptist Church Food Bank in Tallapoosha, Missouri, in memory of Agnes Wehrenberg.
