AFTON CHAMNESS

ANNA, Ill. -- Afton L. Chamness, 93, of Anna, died Friday, June 6, 1997, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born Jan. 15, 1904, at Goreville, Ill., daughter of John and Savannah Cochran Tripp.

She was married to Fred Chamness Dec. 23, 1946, at Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 1986.

Chamness is survived by a stepdaughter, Dolores Gagnier of Rockford, Ill.; and a stepgrandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Chamness was a retired hydro-therapist at the Kankakee State Hospital.

Friends may call Monday after 11 a.m. at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Verlee Eaker will officiate with burial in the Anna Cemetery.
