CAMBRIDGE, Ill. -- Adelle Rose Bayless, 74, of Cambridge died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 10, 1926, in Jackson, Mo., daughter of Robert W. and Dorothy Jenkins Illers.
Bayless was a 1944 graduate of Jackson High School and a 1948 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She taught school in Peoria, Ill., before moving to Cambridge in 1961. She taught vocal music in Cambridge from 1969 until retiring in 1989.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cambridge, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Sorority.
Survivors include her mother of Jackson; two sons, Mark Bayless of Holly Ridge, N.C., Mike Bayless of Crossville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sue Underwood of Cambridge; a sister, Dottie Ellis of Jackson; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Friends may call at Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services in Cambridge from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, with the Revs. Richard Roberts and John Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge.
