Adell Marie Hendrix Hartle, 92, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Burfordville, to John William and Katie Cordelia Allard Hendrix. She attended Perkins and Bell City high schools.

During World War II, Adell worked at the former Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Malcolm H. Stroman, who was killed in Manila in 1947.

Upon moving from Denver in 1947, she became employed at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill. She and Robert Lee "Bob" Hartle were married June 9, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, by the Rev. George Hestler.

They worked together many years in their insurance agency, until they retired in 1984 from State Farm Insurance in Jackson. Adell was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, and a former Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Friends of the Regional Library, Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society, member and former president of Kimbeland Ladies Golf Association, and lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary, all in Jackson.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Bob of Jackson; a daughter, Barbara (Tom) Huebel of Smyrna, Tenn.; a son, Robert Chadwick "Chad" (Geneva) Hartle of Jackson; five grandchildren, Dan (Angie) Huebel of Fayetteville, N.C., David Huebel of Smyrna, Jacie Hartle of Carbondale, Ill., Lindsey Hartle of Cape Girardeau and Robert C. "Robbie" Hartle II of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Cooper; five brothers, Joe, John A., Isom "Troy", Roy and Jack Hendrix; an infant sister, Mamie Hendrix; and an infant brother, Elton Reed Hendrix.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Association.
