Addie Lee Vancil, 89, of St. Louis died Saturday, May 11, 2013, in St. Louis.
She was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Marble Hill, Mo., daughter of Henry Nelson and Stella May Cartwright Haynes.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James M. Haynes, and a sister, Jean Ann Gerhardt, both of Cape Girardeau; a son, Stephen M. Vancil of St. Louis; and ex-husband, Ellsworth Vancil of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Addie is survived by two daughters, Judy (Alfred) Wilson and Sharon Oleksy (Kevin Flanagan); four grandchildren, Kenneth J. Wilson, Kelli (Duane) Parker, Cynthia (Justin) Loeb and Tracie (John) Moon; three great-grandchildren, Alec D. Parker, Emerson L. Parker and Ian W. Moon; eight nephews, James "Buster" (Sandra) Haynes, Bradley Haynes (Michael Franks), Billy Gerhardt, Todd Gerhardt, Boyd (Cynthia) Hoffmeister, Travis (Marilyn) Vancil, Michael (Micki) Vancil and Rick (Paula) Williamson; four nieces Teresa (Ron) Doerr, Terri Howell, Beverly Vancil and Kim Moyer; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Williamson.
Addie especially appreciated the lifelong camaraderie and friendship of sister-in-law Betty Hoffmeister.
She retired from owning A-1 Coffee Service in St. Louis and commanded a special joie de vivre that was contagious to everyone she met. Family and friends will long remember the semiannual parties she hosted. Addie was loved equally by personal friends and business associates.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Cape County Memorial Park.
A celebration of life service will be from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Yacovelli's Restaurant, 407 Dunn Road, Florissant, Mo.
