Addie A. Markert, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 22, 1926, at Benton, Ill., daughter of Earl Melvin Austin and Edith K. Graves. She and James H. Markert were married June 19, 1944, at Benton. He preceded her in death.

Markert was a nurse's aid at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, James E. Markert of Chesapeake, Va.; a daughter, Susan Cargle of Miamisburg, Ohio; two brothers, Virgil Austin of Maryville, Ind., and Paul Austin of Benton; a sister, Susie Downs of Marion, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Dr. Ron Ferguson will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
