Addie Edwardean Cowger, 92, died at 2:41 a.m. Sept. 11, 2010, at the home of her daughter, Dolly Davalt in Advance, Mo.
Addie was born Feb. 9, 1918, at Lamar, Ark., daughter of the late Robert Petty Harris and Effie Mae Pearson Harris.
She was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, Mo.
She is survived by one son, James Robert (Mamie) Cowger of Sikeston; two daughters, Dolly Lou (Gary) Davault of Advance and Joyce Vest (Justin) Hollis of Florence, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Dolly Harris, and three brothers, Milburn Harris, Ragan Harris and Don Harris preceded her in death.
In addition to raising a family, Addie worked as a farm hand chopping and picking cotton; in shoe factories in the fitting department; in schools as a cook; and retired from the Missouri Regional Diagnostic Center as a dietary supervisor.
She also enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her girls. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a loving wife and mother and a lovely Christian lady to all who knew her. How blessed we are to have had her in our lives.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Nunnelee Chapel with Pat Hogan of Shady Acres Church of Christ officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Pallbearers will be James Cowger, Andrew Cowger, Jeff Warren, Gary Davault, Randy Davault, Mike Davault, with honorary pallbearer in absentia Jimmy R. Vest Jr., who is serving in Afghanistan.
