ADAM LEGRAND

BENTON -- Adam Eugene LeGrand, 93, of Benton died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Missouri Veteran's Home.

He was born Nov. 25, 1905, at Benton, son of Anton and Susan Essner LeGrand. He and Lorena Christine Scherer were married Nov. 20, 1934, at Benton. She died Oct. 25, 1977.

He was a self-employed building contractor, a member of the St. Denis Catholic Church at Benton and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by seven sons, A.J. "Tony" LeGrand, Monroe LeGrand and Walter L. LeGrand, all of Benton, Ralph V. LeGrand of Cape Girardeau, Robert C. LeGrand of Sikeston, Vernon C. Legrand and David C. Legrand, both of Jackson; a daughter, Irene Elfrink of Benton; 27 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, seven brothers, a sister and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Benton. Rosary will be said at 7.

Funeral will be an 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Denis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Denis Cemetery, with the Revs. Normand Varone and James Seyer officiating.
