ORAN, Mo. -- Ada Jean Wagoner was welcomed into heaven Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007. She passed away at the home of a daughter, Shirley Mason, at the age of 89.
Born Aug. 16, 1918, in Oran, Mo., to Peter and Jewel Kappler, she married Charles Wagoner June 12, 1935. He preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1979.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Charles "Speedy" (Donna) Wagoner of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Shirley (General) Mason of Oran; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Wagoner was an active member of Oran Baptist Church many years, serving as a teacher and mentor to many, and later became a member of Chaffee Baptist Church. She attended weekly Bible studies and served the Lord through serving others.
Clubs and organizations included Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She also wrote for local newspapers more than 50 years, including the "Bits and Pieces" column for the Chaffee Signal.
She spent her life in service to others by cooking and serving meals at Chaffee Nutrition Center, preparing income taxes for senior citizens, driving the elderly to doctors' appointments, and visiting and inspecting nursing homes.
She was a great blessing to her family and friends.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Oran, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
