Ada Mays

ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Ada Catherin Mays of Anna will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Anna Heights Baptist Church. The Rev. Scott Harner will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. Saturday, and after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mays, 82, died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 3, 1920, in Joppa, Ill., daughter of Joseph S. and Minta Wilshire Farris. She and Grover M. Mays Sr. were married Dec. 15, 1937, in Paducah, Ky. He died June 6, 1994.

Mays was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church, and a member and past worthy matron of Anna Eastern Star Chapter 522.

Survivors include four sons, Sherman, Allen Sr., Grover Jr., and Ronnie Mays, all of Anna; a daughter, Beveraly Mays of Anna; two sisters, Clara Cavitt of Anna, Lucille Eller of Joppa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, and 11 brothers and sisters.
