Acie Fulbright

BENTON, Ky. -- Acie D. "Bud" Fulbright, 80, formerly of Gilbertsville, Ky., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in Elk Grove, Calif.

He was born in Oak Ridge, son of Dock and Mary McLane Fulbright.

He married Betty Jo Downs. She preceded him in death. He then later married Marie Mays. She also preceded him in death.

He lived in Oak Ridge until joining the United States Navy, where he served 20 years and was a veteran of three wars and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He also worked at NASA during the Apollo program and at the Social Security Administration.

He was a charter member and charter secretary of the Marshall County, Ky., Elks Lodge 2707. He was active in the Fleet Reserve Association and belonged to the Western Kentucky Branch 223.

He is survived by a daughter, Verna Cimperman of Elk Grove; two sisters, Martha Roesch of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joyce Gbur of Russellton, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Funeral and burial will be held at a later date. Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home in Benton is in charge of arrangements.
