U.S. Sens. Christopher Bond and John Ashcroft announced they are accepting applications from young people interested in appointments to the U.S. military academies.
In line with the senators' consolidation of statewide operations, academy applications will be processed at one site.
This will provide more efficient service and less paperwork for applicants and high school counselors. Each individual submitting an application form will be considered for an academy nomination by the senators.
Applicants for the academies must be at least 17 and not older than 22, be a U.S. citizen as well as a legal resident of Missouri, and meet high academic leadership and physical requirements to compete for a nomination. The senators will select nominees based on each applicant's qualifications and requirements of the service academies.
To obtain an application form, write Sens. Bond and Ashcroft at 1736 East Sunshine, Suite 705, Springfield, Mo. 65804.
The deadline for requesting an application is Nov. 15 for the class that enters in the summer of 1996.
Questions about the nomination process should be directed to the senators' academy coordinator, Teresa Poole, 417-881-7068.
