JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The search continues for a 16-year-old boy who was shackled when he jumped from a bridge into the Missouri River.
On Sunday, the Missouri State Water Patrol entered its third day of looking for Robert Nichols.
He leapt from the Jefferson City bridge about noon Friday after escaping from a vehicle taking him to the Montgomery City Youth Center.
His mother, Yolanda Nichols, says a caseworker told her that her son he was trying to avoid going back to the detention center.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reported that she said her son was released from the center Wednesday into the custody of his brother. She said he was arrested and was being returned to the center after fighting with his brother.
