JACKSON -- Parents and children can learn self-protection practices at a "Saf-T-Kids" workshop tonight. The program will be held at the National Guard Armory in Jackson from 6:30-8 p.m. The course costs $2 per child.
The workshop is designed for children ages 5 to 15 and will feature role playing and lectures. Topics include "Recognizing a Stranger," "Your Safety Bubble," "Saying No!," "Common lures," and "Self Protection Techniques."
The workshop is presented by the Positive Impact Team, led by self-protection specialists Michael and Lisa Simmons. They have taught an Attitude-In-Action women's self protection program regionally for five years.
The focus of the program is prevention, helping children protect themselves by staying out of threatening situations or avoiding common lures used by molesters and abductors.
For information, call Pam Jenkins at 243-8960, Terry Jones, 243-3580 or Lisa Simmons at 334-8679.
