Singer Carreras calls off Singapore concert

SINGAPORE -- Jose Carreras canceled a Singapore concert because of "unforeseen circumstances and difficulties," promoters said. Carreras, 56, had been scheduled to perform Thursday as the last stop on a seven-city Asian tour. The tenor was in Australia when the decision to cancel was made Monday, the Straits Times daily reported.

Actress chooses her favorite pieces of work

NEW YORK -- Gwyneth Paltrow has room in her heart for only two of her recent films, "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley." That's what the 31-year-old actress tells Entertainment Weekly magazine in its Nov. 28 issue. Paltrow won a best-actress Oscar in 1999 for "Shakespeare in Love." Her movies since winning the Academy Award also include "Duets," "Shallow Hal" and "View From the Top."

Halle Berry considering settling countersuit

LOS ANGELES -- Actress Halle Berry has tentatively settled a $2 million countersuit she filed against the previous owners of a Beverly Hills property that she and her husband bought, her attorney said. Her lawsuit, filed in June, alleged former homeowners Jonathan and Alison Roth did not tell her the $2 million home needed $1 million to fix defects. That suit followed one filed by the Roths, who claim the actress knew about the home's condition.
