Auditions for a play to be performed by children for children are being held next week.
The one-act musical revue called "How to Eat Like a Child" will be presented in November. The director will be Annabelle Gilhaus.
Auditions will be held at the Academy of Dancearts from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 29., from 10 a.m. to noon on Aug. 30 and from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 7.
Children ages 6-17 may audition. Those interested in singing parts should prepare a song. No piano is available, but singers may bring a tape player and taped accompaniment.
The cast can include between six and 30 children.
In addition to singing parts, a number of back stage positions are available.
"The play is called How to Eat Like a Child: And Other Lessons in Not Being a Grown-up," said Susie Felker, who is helping coordinate the Broadway Community Theatre's season.
"There are scenes like how to stay home from school, how to torture your sister and how to beg for a dog," she said.
Felker said two other plays are planned for the upcoming season. "We plan to do another musical in January and to do a melodrama as a dinner theater in May," she said.
"We are going to try to sell season tickets for all three performances," Felker said. The details and prices of upcoming events have not been finalized.
