At least 28 officials and volunteers from museums across Southeast Missouri will gather today at the Southeast Missouri State University Museum to share ideas and resources.
The workshop will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Special guests include Joan Feezor of Malden, a regional archivist who is an expert at caring for and preserving important historical documents.
Magdalyn Sebastian of St. Louis will also be on hand to discuss numbering and cataloging techniques. Sebastian is with the Missouri Historical Society.
"I think people will be able to share their concerns and talk about future plans for museums and historical sites in Southeast Missouri," said Pat Reagan-Woodard, director of the University Museum.
Future plans of the group may include production of a brochure that features museums and historical sites in Southeast Missouri and encourages people to visit them, Reagan-Woodard said.
"We all have a lot of the same concerns," she said. "This will help us learn where our resources are."
