KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A quarrel between two men after one of them took issue with the way the other was talking to three women led to a fatal attack with a hatchet and knife, prosecutors say.

George Hillmon, 48, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of another Kansas City man, Ezell Craft Jr., 48. Witnesses told police that the two men began pushing and shoving each other early Wednesday after Hillmon objected to Craft's argument with the three women.

According to the probable cause statement, Hillmon told authorities he got a hatchet from the kitchen, came back to the living room and used it to hit Craft in the head.

Hillmon said he did not know how many times he hit Craft, but that later he went back to the kitchen, got a butcher knife and used it to stab Craft repeatedly.

Prosecutors allege that Hillmon put the body in the back of his truck, intending to get rid of it.

Witnesses who had left the home told police that when they returned, they saw Hillmon pulling out of the driveway and Craft's body falling to the street.

Police were called, and when Hillmon returned a few minute later he was taken into custody, with prosecutors requesting a $500,000 bond.
