JACKSON -- Jackson residents will have the opportunity to put large appliances, tires and batteries on the curb for disposal during the city's Clean-Up and Fix-Up Week May 8-12.

Lesa Floyd, an employee in the Public Works Department, said the week gives residents a chance to do spring cleaning and get rid of heavy items cluttering their homes.

People should put the appliances and other items on the curb during their normal trash pick-up days. The cost of special pickup is $5 for each appliance; $55 for each refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner; $2 for regular-sized tires; $3 for large truck tires; $1 for oil from one-five gallons; and $1 for batteries.

Any items except the ones listed may be picked up free of charge.
