JACKSON -- Cape Girardeau County Collector Harold Kuehle has filed for re-election for an eighth term.

The Cape Girardeau Republican said he will continue to update the office procedures as he has done since taking office in March 1967.

Kuehle said that during 1994 he will continue working with the data processing department to develop an updated version of the computerized collection and information system now in place.

This will speed up the collection process and make more information available to the staff in helping taxpayers, he said.

"I have enjoyed the collector's job and although many things remain the same from year to year, the state legislature is always making the job challenging," he said.

Kuehle served as chairman of the Cape Girardeau chapter of the Governor's Committee on the Employment of the Handicapped, and on the state committee from 1974 to 1980.

In 1987, then-Gov. John Ashcroft appointed Kuehle as chairman of the Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, a position he held until January 1993.

Kuehle and his wife Peggy are members of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He is a certified lay speaker and a delegate to the Missouri East Conference of the United Methodist Church.

A 1961 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Kuehle holds a business degree with a major in marketing.
