Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School passed out awards to students Friday at an assembly.

Winning the American Legion awards were Jonathan Anderson and Megan Edmonds.

Michael Minner won the Paul Schnare Spirit Award.

Christy Hey won the Special Service Award, and Anderson won the DAR Award.

Winning social studies awards were Drew Seib, Nisha Shah, Andrew Skinner, Nora Renka, Sam Fletcher and Katie Singleton.

Math awards: Matt Hawkins, Lara Golike, Akiko Hiraro, Tahisha McBride, Anderson, Adam Riley and Gina Pirch.

English awards: Renka, Dana King, Wendy Bartosik, Cara Young, Anderson and Aaron Picar.

Science awards: Edmonds, Diana Rauls, Anjuli Dahiya, Sarah Bruening, Renka and Billy Cramer.

Reading awards: Sarah Rawlins, Damian Fitzsimmons and Shannon Bateman.

Foreign language awards: French I, Jill Mosebach; French II, Sarah Slaten; Latin I, Anderson; Latin II, Renka; Spanish I, Bruening and Young; Spanish II, Shah.

Business awards: Tina Whitson and Laura Tinholder.

Physical education awards: Mitch Ogles, Erin Dougherty, Chris Bradshaw and Amy Harris.

Art awards: Michelle Winkler, Courtney Maguire and Tina Blackwell.

Life skills awards: Edmonds and Hiraro.

Industrial arts award: Jason Owen.

Vocal music awards: Hiraro, Seib, Hey and Neal Totton.

Band awards: Danny Groesbeck, Kirk Miller, Kristen Grabel and Renka.

Orchestra awards: Courtney Elder, Boyne Park, Dahiya and Garth Otto.

Yearbook awards: Hey and Ryan Hendrickson.

Cub award: Holly Brantley.

Student Council award: Tobie Bittle.

A third of the students at the junior high have been named to the honor roll, 38 students had perfect attendance and 26 students were honored for outstanding educational improvement.
