Cape Garden Supply, a new garden supply business, has opened in Town Plaza Shopping Center.

"We're a full-line garden center," said Joe Sherinski, general manager of the new operation, located at 10 Plaza Way, just off Independence. "We'll be selling plants, chemicals, fertilizers and other garden supplies."

Sherinski, and Anne Foust, retail manager, both hold degrees in horticulture.

"I have been in this line of work a long time," said Sherinski, "We want to offer some different things."

Sherinski said one of the "different" products the company will sell is books.

"We'll have hardback books on horticulture," he said. "We'll also have some other interesting product lines, like European tools and `wave' music. We'll be handling music from the `Real to Reel' company."

The company will also be carrying Jackson Perkins roses, and a large number of perennials and annuals.

"We'll have some permanent landscapes and idea gardens on display," added Sherinski. "We want our customers to be able to see what they are buying, how fast it will grow, and how big it will get. We also want our customers to know how to grow plants and what problems there may be."

Sherinski said he is interested in unusual varieties. "We want to offer a number of unusual plants, which are easy to grow and care for."

Sherinski, who received degrees from Colorado and Colorado State, is a certified nursery man with the Missouri Association of Nursery Men.

Foust has been working with Seifert's at West Park Mall, but has been active in garden clubs. She earned a horticulture degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
