The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band concert scheduled for June 5 and rained out will be played at 8 tonight under the baton of Neil Casey.

The band program will follow a floral theme with Sousa's "The White Rose" march and the tune Jessie Thilenius wrote for the city, "A Rose for Cape Girardeau," with an arrangement by former Cape Girardeau Municipal Band director O.L. Wilcox. A medley of rose tunes also is on the program.

The band also will play "March Lamar," "The Impresario" by Mozart, a Leroy Anderson medley, and a medley of old tunes called "Themes Like Old Times." The last includes such songs as "Alexander's Ragtime Band," "Peg of My Heart," "I Want a Girl" and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon."

The band will close with selections from "The Music Man."

The celebrity guest conductor will be Cape Girardeau Mayor Jay Knudtson.

This is the 76th season of the city's sponsorship of the band. The free concerts are at 8 each Wednesday night. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
