SIKESTON -- Kenny Dement, a Sikeston lawyer and former football standout at Southeast Missouri State University, has donated a 34-acre farm to the Abe Stuber Scholarship Endowment Fund at Southeast Missouri State University. Proceeds from the eventual sale of the land will go to the scholarship fund.

The tract includes a creek and pond and is located about 10 miles east of Sikeston, said Marvin Rosegarten, Southeast director of Athletic Development.

In addition, Dement established an annual football lineman award to be given to a Southeast player each year at the Southeast Booster Barbecue. At Dement's request, the award will be named "The Kenneth B. Knox Award" for the late Southeast football Coach Knox, Rosengarten said.

Knox, who died in 1970, coached Dement during his career at Southeast from 1951-54. Dement played defensive tackle and earned All-American honors during his tenure at Southeast. Dement's jersey was retired two years ago at Southeast, Rosengarten said.
