The Missouri Highway and Transportation Department is providing markers for turf runways at 22 small airports that are open to the public.
The markers will improve safety by improving runway visibility. Airport safety standards recommend all runways be marked so they are easily visible from the air and ground.
Markers have already been installed at 12 of the airports, including Kennett Memorial Airport and Twin City Airpark at Marble Hill.
An agreement has been signed for the markers at Hornersville Memorial Airport at Hornersville. The department hopes to complete the program by next summer.
The markers are yellow cones that stand 3-feet wide and 2-feet tall and are anchored to the ground along all edges of the runway.
