Cape Girardeau police have removed 10 dogs, including a dead puppy, from a Middle Street home.
The animals were discovered by a neighbor who heard one dog yelping and found four adult dogs tied up and five puppies running loose in the backyard of 220 Middle St. The neighbor said one female dog was unable to reach some water, so he pushed the pan closer.
"Then I saw the puppies and the dead one," he said. One puppy had suffered a gash across its back.
Police collected the dogs and delivered them to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
