Sports Editor:

I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed your columns in the newspaper recently. Your stories about Ron Jones, Bill Bird, Len Bias' mother, and the young athlete by the name of Mike were very interesting and uplifting.

In today's society, we seem to be bombarded with negative statements and situations that could affect the way we go about our own personal life. Many times we fail to recognize the true winners in our society.

I personally know three of these individuals that I mentioned and I know they are true champions. As they were growing up, I am sure they had some tou~gh times, but they did not let that keep them from becoming a successful individual.

Again, congratulations on a job well-done.
