Gracious assistance is appreciated

To the editor:

In this crazy world we live in today we tend to think no one cares about his fellow man. On July 2 I found this statement to be wrong. My friend and I were driving on Highway 25 when I ran over an object in the road that punched a hole in my front tire.

I quickly turned around and headed for the Smith Stop convenience store. We went into the store seeking help. Two women were in the store. I explained my problem, and one woman came around the counter and offered to change the tire for me. We went outside, and she quickly got to work. No one stopped and offered to help. When she was jacking up the truck, a man stopped and offered to help. He finished putting on the spare tire.

I offered to pay, but both refused to take one cent for their help. I now know there are still good people in this crazy world who do care about their fellow man.

If you would like to meet a woman with a big smile and a heart of gold, stop by the Smith Stop in Dutchtown and say hello to Boyann Smith, the owners, and you just might see our mystery man in there too.

Thank you both so much.
