LETTERS: THE SHED IS ALTERNATIVE

To the editor:

It was once said, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it." This truth is being brilliantly displayed every Saturday night at a little haven called The Shed. It's an everything's-absolutely-free recreation center/club that offers teens and young adults a place to go and have fun where they won't get in trouble, have to hide from anyone or regret in the morning.

This Christian atmosphere with its contemporary Christian music doesn't just provide entertainment to pass time, but puts a message with it that isn't watered down nor doesn't conform to meet society's standards for popularity. The message is clear: Jesus Christ is the reason, the way and the only one who can make us right before God and give us the eternal life which we don't deserve instead of the death that we do.

This is a place I needed when I was growing up in a small town with nothing to do, and it could have saved me from making many mistakes I wish I could forget. The Shed is an awesome alternative to any keg party, beer bash, cruise trip or back seat one might find on a Saturday night. It is a blessing to this community, and I praise God for Dan and Darlene Barks who own and run it along with their awesome volunteers.

I urge any high school or college student to check out The Shed. You never know what God will do on a Saturday night. And why not? It's free.
