LETTERS: BUDDY POPPY DRIVE SUCCESS

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 and the Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank all who donated to our recent buddy poppy campaign. Although there was little publicity, you recognized this symbolic flower and contributed generously. All proceeds from this campaign must be placed in our relief fund to be used for needy veterans or their families.

Special thanks must go to KZIM for its publicity and to our volunteers: our members, Boy Scout Troop 5 and Danny Niswonger, Cub Scout Troop 21 and the giving public. Our appreciation to the following business places that allowed our volunteers to ask for donations on their property: NationsBank, Thorngate, Florsheim Shoe Factory, U.S. Post Office, Schnucks on Sprigg and Kingshighway, Wal-Mart, Kmart, Lowes and Food Giant.

Each of you truly honored the dead by helping the living.
