LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: HERE ARE IDEAS FOR GETTING VOTE ON SCHOOL ISSUE

To the editor:

If a consensus is to be reached on the Jackson school bond issue, it seems to me the school board should put the land up for sale that was recently purchased. The last three schools were built with the intention of adding a pod when necessary. Simply put, we were lied to.

The board should try to be more comprehensive when it tells the community what and when something is going to done with the high school.

Why not try some management techniques? Why not a survey? What about quantitative analysis, linear programming and many other management tools? Better yet, why not ask a university to do a study on why the issues have failed and what needs to be done to correct the problem.

In 1954, I was to be drafted. So I became the one in a hundred known as Marines. I had the right stuff. In 1975 in our nation's capital, I was egged in full uniform in broad daylight. In 21 years I had become the enemy.

Anyone who teaches can expect highs and lows. This will blow over eventually. I really think the eventually would be much shorter if the problems were handled in a more scientific and professional manner.
