The Postal Service is looking at ways to become a big player in e-mail services. Some of the ideas it is considering, such as the ability to send to a postal facility e-mail which is, in turn, printed on paper and delivered to recipients without a computer, have merit.

One intriguing aspect of the Postal Services thinking is the notion that every American might be assigned an e-mail address that is unique and based on street addresses. Just think how logical and organized it would be if everyone would adopt these universal electronic addresses for all their correspondence in cyberspace.
