IWhen it comes to times of adversity around the globe, there is one organization that is likely to be on the scene rendering assistance: the Red Cross.

In this country, the American Red Cross is on there when tornadoes or hurricanes hit, when floods wash away entire communities and when other tragedies leave people homeless and in need.

It is with great pride that we join the American Red Cross Missouri State Service Council in honoring Mary Burton for her devotion to the Red Cross aims.

Burton has been executive director of the Southeast Missouri Regional Chapter since 1990. This chapter offers assistance from St. Francois County south to Arkansas and west to Reynolds County.

We salute Burton's devotion to the ideals of an organization that relies on the efforts of hundreds of volunteers.
