Women- Keep home fires burning

To the editor:

Life moves fast, which often makes it difficult to judge the intelligence of males over females. Opinions vary, and with just cause. Parade magazine recently expanded on the subject. It has become quite clear a change is seen in women as to skills, knowledge and wisdom.

In former years, women seldom had a voice in politics. Today, their knowledge has grown, and their interests have increased. In words that were firm and sharp, Sandra Day O'Connor recently stated there is no indispensable woman.

I have always felt Eleanor Roosevelt would have made a better president than her husband, whose interest at times was women other than his beloved wife, who was quite an intellectual.

Bill Clinton's picture appears on the first page of Parade. I am inclined to feel his wife shows signs of making a better president than he ever was. Reputation plays a major role in the respect and success of a president. Clinton's affair with a young lady darkened his reputation and made a scar long to be remembered and never to be erased. Perhaps in time women may excel men in judgment and knowledge. Their physical endurance reveals that fact in many ways.

There's nothing like holding up for your own gender. After all, I truly think a woman's place is to keep the home fires burning where she shines most and is most needed. My salute and admiration go to those who do. I'll bet you agree.
