Jeremy Greenley executed a game-winning suicide bunt in the bottom of the seventh as the Cape Senior Babe Ruth Yankees scored three runs in their final at-bat and squeezed out a 5-4 win over New Madrid Thursday night.

The bunt scored James Powell, who earlier doubled home a run in the seventh. Powell had two hits and two runs batted in.

Ricky Renfroe also had two hits, while Scott Wittenborn had one hit and two runs.

Matt Wilson went the distance for the win. He allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits and four walks, while striking out four.

The Yankees improved to 9-8 overall and 8-5 in conference play.

The second game of the doubleheader was rained out.

Junior Legion

Wood & Huston Cape Junior Legion begins play tonight in the District 14 Junior Legion Tournament in Kennett.

Wood & Huston (8-12), the fifth seed, will face No. 4 Chaffee (9-11) at 5 p.m. The game will be followed by No. 3 Jackson ((13-7) and No. 6 Charleston (0-20) at 7:30. Top-seeded Sikeston (16-4) and No. 2 Kennett (14-6) received first-round byes.

Tournament play continues throughout the weekend, with the championship game scheduled for Monday.
