BENTON -- Steve Plieman took advantage of a final lap mishap to capture the Pure Street Feature Saturday at Missouri International Racepark.
Cline Myers Jr. appeared to be in control of the race as the Scott City driver took the white flag ahead of Plieman. But as Myers headed into turn three, the perfect race crashed down on him.
A lapped car spun in the middle of turn three and four. Myers had no place to go and made contact with the car. Plieman, of Jackson, who was right on Myers Jr.'s heels, moved to the outside of the two cars and crossed the finish line in first place.
Eric Harris of Burfordville, last week's feature winner, finished the night in second. Keith Brugger finished third and Myers Jr. ended his night in fifth.
Terry Johnson captured his fourth win of the year in the Modified Feature. Johnson took the lead on the first lap and led all 20 laps of a caution-filled race. Johnson, of Benton, had experienced motor problems the past two weeks, which had kept him out of competition.
Steve Zelch Jr., who pulled off the track with a problem on his left-rear wheel, was able to rally from the back of the pack to finish second. Sikeston racer Dr. David Morris pulled off his best finish of the year as he placed third. Scott Gibbs finished fourth.
Shawn King, of Cape Girardeau, made a clean sweep of the Winged Sprint events to take the $1,200 first-place cash.
King ran the fastest qualifying time, won his heat and came from the third row to win the fast dash and took the first-place trophy in the sprint car feature event. It marked the second time this year King made a clean sweep at the track.
Dave Feese placed second, J.C. Sulwalske third, Tood Rowland fourth and Kevin Steptor fifth.
Billy James, of Sikeston, bested the field of Super Street to pick up his sixth win of the year. His brother-in-law, Greg King, finished second. Jason Sissom, Robert Smith and Mark Warren rounded out the top five.
