  • Central and Notre Dame advanced to the semifinals in the Central Junior Varsity girls basketball tournament on Monday.

Central routed Sikeston 52-14. The Tigers were led by Sarah Uptmore's 20 points.

Notre Dame defeated Poplar Bluff 30-22, Dexter beat Jackson 41-36 and Farmington beat Chaffee 52-19. Paris Burger led Notre Dame with nine points.

Central will play Farmington in one semifinal tonight and Notre Dame will face Dexter in the other.

* Meadow Heights, Delta, St. Vincent and Notre Dame all won first-round games Monday in the Delta junior varsity girls basketball tournament.

Meadow Heights defeated Valle 46-22, Delta beat Saxony Lutheran 39-22, St. Vincent topped Puxico 61-28 and Notre Dame's freshmen team defeated Scott County Central 54-25.

In tonight's semifinal round, Delta will face Meadow Heights at 6:30 p.m. and St. Vincent will take on Notre Dame at 7:45 p.m.

* Notre Dame advanced to the semifinal round of its own junior varsity boys basketball tournament with a 61-52 win over Farmington.

In other first-round games, Charleston defeated Poplar Bluff 43-41, Blytheville (Ark.) topped Jackson 73-48 and Sikeston beat Central 73-59.
