Woodland advances to district semifinal

Chelsea Morris, Kyla Choate and Lauren Johnson all put down seven kills to lead the Woodland volleyball team to victory in its Class 2 District 3 opener Wednesday night in Greenville.

It was the third time this season the Cardinals defeated Clearwater. Game scores were 25-22, 25-20.

Morgan Winchester added 13 assists in the victory for Woodland (17-9-2).

The Cardinals face St. Vincent, the district's top seed, in the semifinals at 6 p.m. today, and the winner plays for the district title at 8 p.m. today.
