Wood & Huston Cape Junior Legion baseball team will begin play tonight in the six-team District No. 14 `A' Legion Tournament in Sikeston.

Wood & Huston, the fourth seed, takes a 22-14 record into tonight's 8 p.m. game against fifth-seed Poplar Bluff.

The winner will face No. 2 seed Dunklin Co. Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Tonight's other first-round game pits No. 3 Chaffee against No. 6 Jackson at 6 p.m. The winner will face top-seeded Sikeston at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The tournament format is double elimination. The winners' bracket championship game and losers' bracket semifinals will be held Saturday. The championship game is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday. Should the championship showdown require a second game, it will be played Sunday at 1 p.m.

Wood & Huston is 10-10 in district play, but is 2-0 against Poplar Bluff this season. Bluff brings in a 6-14 district mark.

Sikeston and Dunklin County both carry 13-7 district records. Chaffee is 12-8 while Jackson is 2-18.
