But that was twice as many as the Tigers surrendered in a 2-1 victory against the Indians.

Amanda Nichols picked up the win for Central (4-2), pitching a complete game two-hitter. Nichols had seven strikeouts and one walk.

Central scored its first run in the fourth and scored the game-winning run in the sixth when Paige Rothenberger drove in Courtney Schuessler.

Jackson scored its lone run when Lyndsay McNeely scored on an error in the fifth.

Darla Mangels pitched the complete game for Jacskon. Mangels allowed four hits, struck out four and walked one.

CROSS COUNTRY Murphysboro Invitational

The Notre Dame cross country team opened its season by sweeping the boys and girls titles at the Murphysboro, Ill., Invitational.

Neil Kanneberg led the boys by finishing second overall in 17 minutes, 12 seconds, while Logan Davis finished third.

For the Bulldogs girls, Jessica Banda placed second and Tori Pfau finished fourth.
