JEFFERSON CITY -- Cape Girardeau Central High sophomore Dionna Webb turned in a career-best performance in the long jump Saturday, netting her a second-place finish in the Class 4A state track and field meet.
Webb bounded 18 feet 2 1/2 inches to finish as the runnerup behind Rock Bridge's Abbe Ohneck, who had a jump of 18-7 3/4.
The impressive performance by Webb, who also finished eighth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.58 seconds, helped Central's Lady Tigers tie for 15th in the 4A girls team standings with 16 points.
Also for Central's girls Saturday, the 4x800 relay team of Sarah Chaudhari, Kristen Tallent, Myka Bohnsack and Tobie Bittle finished eighth in 9:44.80.
On Friday, Bittle had finished fourth in the 800 and Marissa Uzoaru was eighth in the long jump.
Meanwhile, Charleston's boys turned in an eye-popping performance Saturday to win the Class 3A 4x400 relay title in a time of 3:25.33.
The Blue Jays were also fourth in the 4x200 relay (1:31.34) as they placed 18th in the team standings with 17 points. Charleston's Charles Gillespie finished seventh in the 400 (52.45).
Perryville's boys wound up tied for 12th in 3A with 20 points.
The Pirates got an impressive performance in the 800 as Tyson Brown was second (1:56.54) and Jared Tantz third (1:58.12).
Also for the Pirates Saturday, Brown was eighth in the 1,600 (4:33.31).
On Friday, the Pirates had gotten a fourth-place finish in the 4x800 relay.
Although Cape Central's boys had a host of competitors in the 4A meet, no Tiger was able to place among the top eight in any event.
Sikeston and Poplar Bluff tied for 20th in the 4A boys meet, each scoring 14 points.
