SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The farther away from the hole, the better off Duffy Waldorf was Friday in posting his second straight round of 6-under 65 to take the lead in the Phoenix Open.

Waldorf chipped in for birdie, holed two long birdie putts and also made an eagle putt from 35 feet to reach the halfway point at 130. He was one stroke ahead of Vijay Singh (65) and Rory Sabbatini (64).

Whether he keeps the 36-hole lead won't be known until today.

A 45-minute frost delay meant the second straight day in which play could not be completed. Among those who had little chance of finishing the second round was 17-year-old Ty Tryon, the youngest rookie in PGA Tour history.

That figured to be the only way he would make it to the weekend.

After playing his first nine holes in 43 and finishing with a 77, Tryon badly misread his first birdie putt and was 7 over for the tournament through his first four holes. The cut was likely to be around 1-under par.
